This month, the City of Las Vegas announced the BioHealth Innovation Challenge, a $10 million competition to establish a biosciences incubator lab in the heart of the Las Vegas Medical District. The initiative is designed to attract world-class research, talent, and investment to Nevada — a region ready to accelerate its healthcare ecosystem.
Brian Knutson, Las Vegas Mayor Pro Tem and City Councilman for Ward One, emphasized the urgency: “Nevada is significantly behind in healthcare infrastructure compared to other states. Expanding biohealth research space is critical to catching up — and creating better healthcare access for every Nevadan.”
Carrot CEO Jaison Morgan noted that competitive programs like this are exactly what Carrot was built for: “Whether it’s working with NASA or cities like Las Vegas, competition unlocks innovation. By running open, transparent, and data-driven challenges, we bring in new talent and new technologies that deliver lasting impact.”
The BioHealth Innovation Challenge is open to applicants worldwide. To compete, organizations must demonstrate the ability to invest at least $20M alongside the City’s $10M commitment, ensuring long-term sustainability and growth.
📅 Registration Deadline: January 22, 2026
