Lone Star Prize Awardee Announced

$10 million awarded to build healthier and stronger communities in Texas.

In March of 2020, just as the global pandemic was gaining attention, Lyda Hill Philanthropies announced the LONE STAR PRIZE, offering a $10 million award to build healthier and stronger communities in Texas. Today, we are announcing the winner: The Meadows Institute's Lone Star Depression Challenge. I cannot think of a better use of resources than to address untreated mental health and depression in Texas and throughout the country. But, as Lyda Hill explains, "We can unequivocally state that the Lone Star Prize has been a resounding success." As a result, she is investing an additional $2 million in the remaining four Finalists. Each of them offers an amazing range of meaningful change for Texas.
